Meet Dr. Michael Tellman
Education/Experience:
Dr. Michael Tellman is a 2011 graduate from Brebeuf Jesuit Highschool , received his BS in Biology from Creighton University in 2015, MS from Purdue University in 2019, and his DMD from Tufts University in 2024. Before dental school he worked for 3 years as a Dental Implant Surgical Consultant when he realized he wanted to pursue a career in Dentistry.
During his time in dental school, Michael found an unexpected love for teaching and was a Teaching Assistant in Operative, Fixed Prosthodontics, Removable Prosthodontics, Complete Denture, Endodontics. He presented his own lecture “Bur Selection” to second year dental students. He also presented a video he produced on the lost wax casting for gold crowns. He was also a Teaching Assistant during his 3rd and 4th years in the emergency clinic and received the William W. and Ush N. Sellers Scholarship given to a selected student for excellence in teaching. Dr. Tellman maintained the Dean’s list his entire time at Tufts.
At Tellman Dentistry, he will provide General dentistry with a focus on implants and cosmetic dentistry.
Outside The Practice
Aside from dental school Dr. Tellman is an artist. He started to create metal sculptures in 2014, which eventually led to receiving the Sutton-Garten award for best in sculpture at the Indianapolis Art Center in 2017. Prior to dental school, Michael had sculpture studio in downtown Indianapolis where he made commissioned stainless-steel sculptures ranging from 4 feet to 6 feet tall. Leaving his studio behind while attending TUDSM, he started making jewelry, casting gold and silver jewelry in his apartment. He made various pieces for classmates, faculty and friends. He recently opened up a new studio on the west side of Indianapolis, where he will continue his passion for metal sculpture, as well as custom furniture pieces. He dreams of making large installation pieces for public parks.
In The Community
In the future, Dr. Tellman intends to become a part-time faculty at Indiana University School of Dentistry. He also plans to Volunteer at the Gennesaret Free Dental Clinic in Downtown Indianapolis, providing free dental care to those in need.
